Celebrating over a decade of our flagship store

This year marks over a decade since Abayas Boutique opened the doors to our second store and moved from Cheetham Hill to Wilmslow Road, Manchester. What started as a small family vision grew into one of Manchester’s recognised destinations for luxury modest fashion, welcoming customers from across the UK and beyond.

Alongside our physical stores, our online store has continued to grow strongly since launching in 2011, allowing customers from across the UK and internationally to experience Abayas Boutique from wherever they are. What began as a small online presence has evolved into a trusted destination for premium abayas, hijabs, occasionwear and modest fashion collections.

The Early Days of Abayas Boutique

Long before the boutique became what it is today, the business started with hard work, determination and a passion for modest fashion. In the early days, many of our abayas were manufactured here in the UK, with a strong focus on quality craftsmanship and timeless designs.

We would travel across the country wholesaling to Islamic bookshops, attending exhibitions and showcasing collections at Muslim events and conferences. Those experiences helped lay the foundations of Abayas Boutique and introduced our designs to communities throughout the UK.

From exhibition stands and small wholesale beginnings to becoming an established modest fashion destination, the journey has been built step by step over many years.

The Transformation of Our Store

Many customers remember the early days of the boutique, but the store underwent a major transformation to become the elegant space it is today.

Walls were knocked down to completely redesign the layout and create a more open, luxurious shopping experience. Floors were lowered and rebuilt, new flooring was installed throughout, and walls were replastered and refined to give the boutique its clean and timeless finish. Dedicated changing rooms were introduced to make the experience more comfortable and personal for customers.

Every detail was carefully considered to create a boutique that reflected the elegance and sophistication of modern modest fashion.

A Family Business at Heart

Abayas Boutique has always been a family affair. From the very beginning, the business was built through passion, sacrifice and hard work shared within our family.

Over the years, our children have embraced the business and become part of its growth, bringing fresh creativity, ideas and vision into the next generation of Abayas Boutique. Watching the younger generation continue what was started years ago has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

As the business evolved, so did our vision.

Introducing BY AB

One of our proudest milestones has been the launch of our sister brand, BY AB — a new direction for elevated modest fashion with a refined and contemporary identity.

BY AB was created to introduce premium capsule collections, modern silhouettes and timeless statement pieces while still holding onto the quality and elegance customers associate with Abayas Boutique.

The launch of BY AB marked an exciting new chapter, combining years of experience with a fresh creative direction for the future of modest fashion.

Looking Ahead: Menswear & Wholesale

After years of growth, we are now preparing for the next stage of the journey.

Abayas Boutique is looking towards expanding into menswear, bringing the same attention to quality, craftsmanship and timeless design into a men’s line that reflects modern modest style.

We are also developing our wholesale direction, reconnecting with an area that has always been part of our roots, with plans to work closely with retailers and boutiques looking for premium modest fashion collections with distinctive design and quality finishes.
