Why We Loved Seeing Aneila Afsar In Abayas Boutique This Ramadan
Every Ramadan, there are certain women whose work reminds us of what’s possible. This year, one of those women was Aneila Afsar.
Athlete. Mother. Community advocate. The first hijab-wearing contestant to compete on Gladiators. Aneila has become a role model for countless Muslim women by showing that faith, ambition and strength can exist side by side.
Throughout Ramadan, we were honoured to see her choosing Abayas Boutique for a number of special occasions, from community events and iftars to public appearances and gatherings.
What we admire most about Aneila isn’t simply her achievements, impressive as they are. It’s the way she carries herself. Confident in her identity, committed to her faith and determined to create opportunities for others. One moment that particularly stood out was her iftar for single mothers, bringing women together during Ramadan for an evening of support, reflection and community. In a world that often celebrates individual success, it was a reminder that true leadership is also about uplifting those around you.
For the occasion, Aneila chose our Maria in Bordeaux, a flowing four-piece set featuring an embellished silk organza cape, coordinating dress and chiffon hijab. Elegant, refined and perfectly suited to the spirit of the evening.
She was also seen wearing our Floral Organza in Mocha Mauve at the SS Edit event, pairing the statement floral detailing with her signature confidence and effortless style.
Whilst we’re always delighted to see our designs worn at special events, what made these moments meaningful was the woman wearing them.
Aneila continues to break barriers, challenge assumptions and inspire a new generation of Muslim women to pursue their goals without compromising who they are. And that’s something worth celebrating.
